The historical novel "The Interpreter of Bodies" by Spanish writer Antonio Garrido was inspired by a real person: the prototype of the main character was the Chinese scientist Sun Qi - the world's first forensic medicine specialist.
After the death of his grandfather, the ardent novice criminalist Sun Qi is forced to leave his studies in the capital and return to his native village to support his family. He agrees to work as a gravedigger, which allows him to improve his skills in forensic medicine. Soon, Qi discovers in himself the ability to determine the cause of death of a person. His fame spreads quickly, and he is ordered to reveal the culprit of a terrible series of mutilations and deaths at the imperial court. The investigation is complicated by old connections and the appearance of a mysterious and seductive woman. However, Qi does not back down and is guided by the desire for the truth, because the life of the emperor himself is at stake.
