"This little rascal Irka will live in me until my death. It is she who gives birth to a special love for life"

A witty and warm story about summer vacations that brings back childhood and youth. From the first childhood adventures in the village with hay and corn to growing up and complex internal changes. Someone was dragged into the routine of career growth, someone stood up for the defense of Ukraine, someone became an exemplary family man, and someone still teaches teenage girls how to become ideal. What keeps them together, frozen in the memories of the Toliks?

The end of the 90s — the beginning of the zeros. The main character Irka, as if rewinding the tape with a pencil, returns to the time when the first three free seconds of talking on a mobile phone were used, listening to young Vakarchuk and the immortal hit "She". And they also read teenage magazines "Cool Girl" and "Oops", which became the first psychologists of young girls, and the perfumed coconut deodorant "Och" was eaten out. You will remember how delicious it was to eat at grandma's, join the corn mafia with your friends, and go to the first village disco. And rowdy brothers will always be there and help heal a broken heart or, perhaps, turn into the "ideal woman" - exactly what they imagine her to be.

Toliky. About Those Who Rewind the Tape with a Pencil is a novel about the vicissitudes of growing up, young loves that have acquired completely different shades over the years. And the trace of childhood, which is with us for life - it does not matter who you have become and how far you are from the place where your childhood lives.

Why should you read the book Toliky. About Those Who Rewind the Tape with a Pencil?

The novel describes youth in a Ukrainian village in the late 90s and early 2000s so that even young adult fans will dream of their own cassette recorder.
Together with the main characters, the readers will immerse themselves in the atmosphere of real life, which is not like a book: from ironic situations that have happened to everyone who has visited their grandmother in the village at least once, to the dramatic realities of life.
A story that will definitely convince you that happiness is in simple things.
