The new book of the well-known researcher of Ukrainian decorative and visual arts, Professor Halyna Stelmashchuk, is devoted to the folk clothing worn by Ukrainians of ethnographic groups: Boykos, Lemkos, Hutsuls, Pokutians, Bukovyntsi in the Carpathians.
It has many features in common with the clothing used in all regions of Ukraine, but in connection with climatic, economic, social conditions, and cultural relations with neighboring states over the centuries, the clothing of the Ukrainians of the Carpathians developed its own distinctive local features, which are distinguished by their colorfulness, decoration, method of wearing and the fact that on festive days it can still be seen on carriers, especially in the Hutsul region.
The book will be interesting to scientists, artists, students, pupils, tourists, and everyone who is interested in the history, culture, and art of the Ukrainian people.
