Rose has always loved Christmas, but now everything has changed. In search of comfort and solitude, she escapes to a cottage in Donegal to spend the festive season alone in a quiet rural location.
Charlie plans to spend Christmas alone for the first time in his life. It may be the most wonderful time of the year for some, but not for him. Not this year. So he rents a cottage in a quiet village. But when a stranger walks through the door, they both realize that their holiday home has been double-booked. Each had hoped to spend this Christmas alone, but life could change forever when two previously strangers - each with their own inner traumas - agree to spend it together.
