The book "In Kyiv in the 60s" won the Book of the Year 2020 competition in the Business Card nomination, sub-nomination Local History and Travel Literature / Ethnography / History of Everyday Life / Travel Notes.
A vivid story about the eventful life of the city in the distant 1960s is a continuation of Dmytro Malakov's book In Kyiv in the 50s. The decade of the 1960s was extremely important for the establishment of the spirit of freedom and democracy in the social, cultural, and artistic realities of the city. The authors, as carriers of historical memory, convey in their story the unique atmosphere of everyday life in Kyiv and do so with a sense of pride and respect for the prominent personalities and ordinary residents who worked to create a beautiful modern city.
The book is illustrated with unique photographs from the family collections of Kyiv residents and archival photos. The publication is especially charming due to the drawings by the prominent Ukrainian graphic artist Heorhii Malakov, who talentedly and with subtle humor captured various scenes of city life in the 60s.
