Description

Mykola Zerov (1890-1937) is a brilliant poet, translator, prominent scholar-literary scholar, critic, unsurpassed teacher-professor.

The publication “Ukrainian Literature of the 19th Century” included a course of lectures by Mykola Zerov on the history of Ukrainian literature from I. Kotlyarevsky to the end of the 1860s. The lectures were delivered in the 1927-28 academic year to students of the 3rd year of the literary and linguistic cycle of the Kyiv Institute of Public Education. Zerov painted an amazing psychological portrait of each writer discussed in the course. His comprehension of the material was so deep that in the imagination of the listeners, not stereotypical images of writers, but living figures arose. Each of his phrases was so well-considered that it could have been immediately published.

The “Native” series also published books by Mykola Zerov “Ukrainian Literature of the 20th Century. From Kulish to Vynnychenko”, “Ukrainian Literature of the 20th Century. Franko. To the Sources” and “Poetry”.
