Mykhailo Dragan's fundamental two-volume book "Ukrainian Wooden Churches" has been reprinted for the first time since 1937 with additions and corrections of inaccuracies in the first edition. The first volume — textual, the second — illustrative — includes more than 150 high-quality photos of the wooden churches of Galicia, taken in the 1920s and 1930s. Notes have been developed for the edition; the subject-geographic index has been improved: the location of settlements has been brought into line with the modern administrative-territorial division, and the dates of the construction of churches have been clarified.

The book opens with a foreword by the well-known art historian Volodymyr Aleksandrovych, who introduces the reader to the context of Mykhailo Dragan's scientific activity and the interwar period when the original edition of the book was published. Based on the already available two-volume work of the Shcherbakivskyi brothers "Ukrainian Art" (1913 and 1926), as well as the first work dedicated to Ukrainian architecture by Hryhorii Pavlutskyi "Antiquities of Ukraine. Wooden and Brick Churches of Ukraine", Mykhailo Dragan places the main emphasis on the wooden architecture of Galicia - Hutsuls and Boiks.

The new edition uses original photos stored in the personal archive of Mykhailo Dragan in the Andrey Sheptytsky National Museum of Lviv. The revised subject-geographical index was developed by Vasyl Slobodian.

In 2014, at the Forum of Publishers in Lviv, the book was included in the 20 best publications of the year.
