Reason and desire collide in this summer romance set in Italy.
Maya Killgore is twenty-three years old and still figuring out what to do with her life.
Conor Harkness is thirty-eight, and Maya can't stop thinking about him.
It's such a cliché it's going to burst her heart: older man, younger woman; rich man working in biotech, struggling to make ends meet; her brother's best friend, the girl he'd never even noticed. As Conor has told her on more than one occasion, the power dynamic is too unbalanced. Any relationship between them would be fraught for many reasons, so Maya should put it out of her mind. After all, Conor has made it clear he doesn't want her in his life.
But not everything is as it seems, and clichés can sometimes become a plot twist.
Since Maya's brother has chosen to celebrate his wedding in Taormina, she and Conor end up spending over a week together in a romantic Sicilian villa. There, on the beautiful Ionian coast, among ancient ruins, delicious food, and natural caves, Maya realizes that Conor may be hiding something from her. And when the Italian wedding starts to turn sour, she decides that maybe all she needs is a complicated summer romance.
