"The Navigator" will guide readers through the turbulent 20th century and no less turbulent modern history, as it tells about life in Ukraine from the preludes of World War I to the full-scale Russian invasion of 2022, fitting all these events into a global context. Its authors trace the organic connections between events that are many decades apart, such as the creation of the Ukrainian People's Republic in 1917 and the restoration of Ukrainian independence in 1991, and thousands of kilometers apart: for example, in Iraq and Ukraine. The book also tells about ordinary life that took place against the backdrop of wars, armed conflicts and diplomatic agreements, because culture, science, the economic situation and social everyday life are no less important parts of history than political developments.
