In a small military town, somewhere in the forests of the American South in the 1930s, a polygon of relationships between employees is being built. We are presented with the garrison life of two families - Captain Penderton and his wife Leonora, a flirtatious and skilled rider, and Major Langdon and his fragile wife Alison - and how the daily routine of their lives is changed by the appearance of Private Williams. Each of the characters discovers something unknown in himself or for himself - something that was previously forbidden and stigmatized, and now opens up as a secret. The novel "Glare in a Golden Eye" by K. McCullers touches on the intractable questions of love and hate, lust and flesh, life and death, noting: anything in the world can seem like only a reflection - completely different from what it really is.
