Desperate Riders

The new book by the famous Ukrainian writer Zirka Menzatyuk, “Desperate Riders,” is a continuation of the action-packed stories “The Secret of the Cossack Saber,” which is included in the school curriculum, and “Wild Summer in the Crimea,” which is to be made into a film.

This time, the Rusnak family travels to the Dnieper region, where they come across the historical Black Road, find themselves in the nighttime Black Forest, and on the shore of Black Lake, the most mystical of Ukrainian lakes. The dreamy, peaceful vacation turned into a whole cascade of adventures and strange antics when it turned out that Natalochka’s new acquaintance needed to save his unusual friend. The intervention of the main character would only complicate the situation, and the antics would bring a completely unexpected result…
