Description

Why are war crimes committed against women? What happens during prolonged hostilities, when the demographic balance in society is disturbed, and millions of women and men become lonely? Many things happened in the occupied territories and fronts of the Second World War: drunken revelry and promiscuous sexual relations, soldiers' brothels, mass murders and gang rapes. After 1945, for some time it seemed that humanity had learned a cruel lesson and such crimes would never happen again. But the year 2022 came, the most tragic in post-war European history. The grandchildren of those who looted, killed and raped in Berlin, Budapest, Vienna and Königsberg at the end of the Second World War began to do the same in Buch, Mariupol, Kherson and other Ukrainian cities.

Why did this happen? History teaches people nothing if the crimes of the past remain unpunished. And the crimes against humanity committed by Putin's Russia in Ukraine are another proof of that. The book of the American-Ukrainian writer and publicist Rafael Grugman is dedicated to this.
