The collection “Villas by the Sea” presents the poetic work of Emma Andiyevska (born 1931) — an original poet, prose writer, artist, a bright representative of modernism in Ukrainian literature, a restless and courageous experimental artist. Although she lived most of her life abroad, she wrote in Ukrainian all these years. And her homeland recognized Andiyevska’s skill: in 2018 she was awarded the National Literary Prize named after T. G. Shevchenko. Emma Andiyevska’s debut collection “Poetry” was published in New Ulm in 1951 and immediately attracted the attention of critics with its vivid imagery, originality of poetic language and received extremely favorable reviews. In total, her creative poetic legacy today consists of 33 poetry collections.
The publication includes selected poems by E. Andiyevska, written from 1951 to 1985.
