Description

Researchers consider Polishchuk the creator of the “fact novel” and a psychologist of the revolution, but his vivid artistic chronicle of the Liberation Struggles of 1917–1920 — like his entire literary heritage in general — was erased from textbooks during the Soviet era, because the stories of the times of the revolution do not contain the necessary portion of life-affirming bravado. Instead, they are permeated with a fog of chaos and a weak faith in the healing of the people.
Klym Polishchuk himself was arrested in 1929 in the "SVU" case and imprisoned for ten years, and in 1937, a few months before the long-awaited liberation, the writer was shot with thousands of others in the Sandarmokh tract.
For decades, Klym Polishchuk's life and work remained on the back burner of history, and the collection "He Loved the Sun" is only one of the first steps on the path to knowing him.
