Those who have read about little Hukha-Mohovynka hardly know who its author was - Vasyl Koroliv-Stariy. During his busy life, he managed to work as a veterinarian, editor, painter, teacher, and writer. In the memory of Ukrainians, he is closely associated with works for children, but behind the good tales about the Evil Force is hidden a multifaceted and uncrossable soul, full of deep thoughts and love for Ukraine. Vasyl Koroliv-Stariy was able to emigrate and thus escape the fate of his repressed contemporaries. In addition, he encouraged his wife Natalena Koroleva to be creative, and later she even surpassed her husband in recognition. In exile, he worked for the good of Ukraine until his last breath, but in his memoirs he chose not to highlight this. Instead, he told a lot of good stories, as only a children's - and not only - writer can tell. In addition to three stories about everyday life through the eyes of children, the book contains the author's memoirs, "Memories of My Death", which became his last and most significant work.
