Description

The Case of Rachel by Caroline O'Donoghue is a tender and emotional novel about true friendship, unrequited love, coming-of-age, self-discovery, and many other things that happen to you in your 20s. This is the story of youth, its passions and mistakes. And there is also a love polygon with a married professor, but about everything in turn.

A true friend is someone who will share any stupidity with you

The plot unfolds in Ireland during the financial crisis that occurred after 2008. Rachel is trying to live a bohemian lifestyle despite the hard times and is working in a bookshop in Cork when James, a temporary assistant, arrives.

Very quickly, these two find a common language and become best friends. And later they rent a house together. James is very dear to Rachel, but she has another passion - secret and forbidden. Rachel falls for a married professor, Dr. Fred Byrne.

But what is a friend if he does not share any stupidity with you! The plan to lure Dr. Fred is developed by the two friends: they arrange literary readings in the bookstore, where he will definitely come, and then the "star time" for Rachel should come. But the professor has his own views on the situation, and his glamorous wife will not leave everything just like that.

The affair will have consequences, friendship will undergo serious tests, relationships will get tangled in a tight knot and turn into an equation with all the unknowns, and later all this thundering mixture will explode with a spectacular finale.
