"I, Bohdan" is a historical novel-confession by Ukrainian writer Pavlo Zagrebelny. The author depicts the events of 1654 during the national liberation war of the Ukrainian people. The work is written in the form of a monologue by Bohdan Khmelnytsky, who tells about his life path. The novel is interesting for the hetman's reflections and thoughts about the fate of Ukraine. Bohdan does not just tell, he seems to reflect and explain his actions, in which he reveals himself not only as a wise statesman, commander, but also as an ordinary person with his weaknesses and passions.
