The tragic accident in which five-year-old Jacob dies, fundamentally changes the lives of many people, because those involved in it drive away without even stopping. Yes, you can escape from the scene, but how do you escape from the past? This issue does not give rest to the mother of the dead boy, nor to those responsible for the accident, nor to the policemen who, having started the investigation, are circling in wrong ways. Only by stopping and looking the past in the eyes, the heroes of the novel get what they seek: punishment for the guilty and release from the burden of guilt for the rest.
