Hnat Mykhailichenko's prose is characterized by lyricism, expression, the charm of words and subtle, refined rhythmic syntax, which is partly close to the poetics of the prose of Knut Hamsun, Rainer Maria Rilke, Marcel Proust, and Sherwood Anderson. Even the story short stories of the writer are more like a plot sketch, which aims to convey the mood of the action, and not to determine its course. The selection also includes critical articles that partly reflect conflicting opinions and alternative views on the work of Hnat Mykhailichenka, but are, however, an attempt to decipher the symbolism and mystery of his texts and bring the reader closer to understanding the worldview of the writer.
