"I blame Auschwitz. Family stories" is a book about the Holocaust, not directly, but in the second generation. Its characters-narrators are children born after the war of single Jews who survived in Europe. Often these children learn about what their parents had to go through at a very mature age. Sometimes only after the death of parents. They usually do not understand the meaning of such words as uncle and aunt, aunt and cousin because, for them, these are purely theoretical concepts. Each of the 24 stories they told can be expanded into a novel. However, Mikolaj Grynberg does not do this - and the reader gets the quintessence of the fate of people who, having not personally experienced Nazi persecution, were still affected by post-traumatic stress disorder.

The translator thanks the editor-in-chief of the newspaper "Molodiy Bukovynets" Bohdan Zagayskyi, without whom the path of this book to the Ukrainian reader would have been much longer.
