Despite the significant progress of democracy around the world, in recent years there has been an increase in interest in the use of fascist political methods even in the most developed democratic countries. What causes such trends and how to recognize them? Why does fascism raise its head in Europe and America? Philosopher from Yale University, Jason Stanley, identifies signs that make it possible to trace the descent of countries into the elements of fascism: inventing a "glorious" past as opposed to real historical events, struggle with intellectuals, attempts at hierarchical construction of society, use of modern mass media as means of propaganda in favor of one social group or a political party, etc. The researcher explains how fascist politicians try to incite panic in society, impose their stereotypes and belittle the achievements of liberal democracy, on which modern Western civilization is built, and also points to the threats that the demagogic rhetoric and practice of neo-fascists in the USA and Hungary will bring. ..
