Izzy Young is a prominent figure from the Beat generation, a poet and musicologist, founder of the famous New York Folklore Center in Greenwich Village and owner of a Stockholm folklore store, friend and first producer of Bob Dylan (it was to him that the Nobel laureate dedicated the song “Talking Folklore Center”), a tireless popularizer of folk music, organizer of numerous folk concerts and meetings with songwriters in New York and Stockholm. He is also the father of Philomena Grandin, whose book you are holding in your hands and which she began to write during his lifetime. In the mosaic of his daughter’s memories and through the prism of family relationships, this work reveals the image of the famous and at the same time unknown Izzy Young.
