"Zakhar Berkut: The Legend" is a modern graphic interpretation of an ancient legend, a prequel to one of Ivan Franko's best works, "Zakhar Berkut" from 1883, by the authoritative Ukrainian comics artist Oleksandr Koreshkov, the author of the comics "Among the Sheep" and "Kolodroid".
The author touches on the eternal theme of life and death through the prism of the ancient beliefs of the Ukrainian people, depicting his view of the legend, which the main character Zakhar Berkut, the Tukhol elder, mentions in the original work of Ivan Franko, about the Guardian of the Stone, the leading defender of the Tukhol people, who helped stop the Mongol invasion of Tukhol land.
