The Iron King. Maurice Druon

“The Iron King” is the first work in the series of historical action novels “The Cursed Kings” by the French writer Maurice Druon (1918–2009).

14th century. France. At the head of the monarchy is Philip IV. Handsome, uncompromising, unlimited in his absolute power. Only one force opposed the Iron King – the powerful Order of the Templars. Independent, influential, extremely wealthy – all this obviously worried the power-hungry monarch. The Iron King will arrange a real trial of the Templars and eventually defeat them. The Grand Master will curse the king, his entire family and his executioners...

Did the Templar curse come true? What intrigues and strife were there at the French court? What does adultery lead to? How strong can revenge be? The reader will learn about all this and much more from those – now distant for us – times of medieval Europe on the pages of the novel.
