"Personal involvement in historical events, a clear vision of interrelationships, analogies, and parallels have become almost habitual for the editorial team of "Antiquarian" - a kind of optical effect of constant immersion in that dialogue with eternity, which has been going on in the pages of the publication for the seventeenth year. However, the war exacerbated these feelings in all Ukrainians.

Before the russian invasion — in February 2022 — a magazine dedicated to satirical periodicals of the era of the first Ukrainian independence was published. And we were amazed at how clearly the prerequisites of the terrible war of destruction, which russia has been waging against Ukraine for more than a century, appeared in the drawings and texts of the late 1910s.

The theme of the magazine with which we are ending 2022, and actually starting 2023, also a war year, is "The First Century", and it was prepared for the anniversary of the National Museum "Kyiv Art Gallery". A selection of articles highlighting various aspects of museum work and museum life allows you to see how one of the largest national art collections developed, changed, and enriched over the course of a century. And how the dedication and professionalism of museum workers, collectors, artists, and patrons overcome the challenges of the historical drama of the Ukrainian present."

— Hanna Sherman, editor-in-chief.
