Gold and Silver Jewelry of Ukraine-Rus

Thanks to the efforts of the Institute of Collectors in the "Ukrainian Folk Art" series, another album was released - "Gold and Silver Jewelry of Ukraine-Rus" (director - T. Lozynskyi).

The jewelry art of Rus is one of the most important components of world artistic culture. It was based on its own, with centuries-old traditions, local ornamentation, and plot compositions, and absorbed not only Slavic roots but also motifs and influences of Byzantine, Arab, Scandinavian, and many other artistic traditions.

Gold and silver products of ancient Rus masters were famous not only in their own state but also far beyond its borders. The jewelry business of Rus reached a high European level, but its further development was interrupted by the Mongol invasion. The artistic heritage of Rus became the foundation on which the jewelry traditions of later cultural associations were formed, which arose on its territory.

Compilers selected the best things for the album from state museums (National Museum of the History of Ukraine, Lviv Historical Museum) and private collections.
