The second volume of the selected short stories of the writer, philanthropist and Nobel laureate Thomas Mann translated into Ukrainian for the first time
To the music of Wagner's Valkyries, we present the second volume of selected short stories of the writer, philanthropist and Nobel laureate Thomas Mann translated into Ukrainian for the first time. Forbidden love and frank sexuality, sensuality in the twilight of the First World War and fear in the stormy era of the formation of Nazism, a return to mythology and the inevitable awareness of one's own mortality. "The Black Swan" and other short stories are a series of short and at the same time profound prose of the German novelist, who managed to preserve honor where dishonor reigns, and to find a way to artistic truth at a time when the machine of death was waiting for every disobedient.
The second volume included: the short story "The Lord and the Dog. Idyll" (A Man and His Dog, 1918), "Disorder and Early Sorrow, 1925", inspired by Scandinavian mythology and Valkyries by Wagner "The Blood of the Walsungs" (1921) and "Black Swan "(Deceived) (The Black Swan, 1954).
