Mariko Gelman about the #cyberrenaissance series:

On the one hand, I try to beat the style of the old masters, thanks to the opportunity, on the other - to imitate that the work was generated by a neural network. In my opinion, these are the most polar extremes that are interesting to combine into a single, special space. This opens up a real playground for play and experimentation. Try to consciously distort something, especially something familiar, with which you work all your life - for example, body proportions - this turned out to be more difficult than I discovered. There is a great advantage in the pursuit of perfection - this path is endless, therefore unattainable. And here another task arose - a certain regression, a failure, a sporadic error - and it must be controlled, meaningful, compositionally and meaningfully justified. And this is the most interesting stage of the work. When I started sharing the series on social media and getting the first feedback, I decided: the best compliment for me is when the recipient insists that the work is completely generated, and I, as an artist, had no part in its creation. If the consumer adds our, so familiar and heartfelt account under the post, it's definitely bingo, it means that you will be able to create an absolutely luxurious simulacrum of simulacra, and for that you can raise a glass.
