Wooden Postcard No. 013a

In the work of Vasyl Krychevsky, plant-geometric ornaments quantitatively occupy the first place. The ornament of 1920 is characteristic of the artist's work.

Three parallel zigzags create the diagonal nature of the movement of the ornament and also form "niches" for geometrical branches with fruits and leaves. Subtle nuances of blue (three shades) on a gray background give a sense of harmony and integrity.

The ornamental composition is an allusion to the folk carpets of the Poltava region, but, as always, skillfully worked out by the artist in a modern way.

The sketch is kept in the Shevchenko National Reserve in Kaniv.
