The wide war, like a giant anaconda, approaches slowly and silently. Pastor-evangelist, military chaplain, and father of many children Hryhorii Motuz keenly feels her nauseating breath. Few people believe that russia will dare to attack. However, their illusions are shattered at the same moment when the first russian shells and mines kill the first people and in a matter of days the city of Mary turns into a cemetery.
Russian troops surround Mariupol, so the pastor evacuates his family, families of parishioners and military personnel, and a children's shelter. His volunteer chaplain battalion works in the "grey" zones throughout the front line, and the sons fight and save people side by side with their father.
In one of the expeditions, Hryhorii, blinded by an explosion, is captured. Chained to the floor in the "Stolypin" wagon, he recalls his own life: childhood, service in the Soviet army, fighting the drug mafia for homeless teenagers, searching for his roots and truth in the delusion of russian propaganda...
This war — between Light and Darkness, between the civilization of life and the civilization of death — has been going on for much longer than 400 years. And it's time for the final episode.
