The first novel, "Aishe Goes on Vacation" (2015), brought its author popularity in Greece and Cyprus and was awarded the highest award of the Athens Literary Prize the following year. The next novel, "Earth Voices" (2017), was shortlisted for the Cyprus Literary Prize.
The last novel of the writer, called "The Bitter Land" 2019, received the Cyprus Literary Award, and the short story "Death Rites", written on the basis of this novel, received the Commonwealth of Nations Award for the best short story in the same year.
In his works, Sotiriou tries to understand the tragic events of the recent history of Cyprus - the occupation of its northern part by Turkey, to see the different "truths" of the civil conflict and what is hidden behind the construction of such truths, to address the shadows of both with words of reconciliation its parties to open their eyes to the mutual wrongs and injustices that turned the island of love into the island of hate.
