After the tragedy, neither Lazlo nor Sarai are the same as before. One is a god, the other is a ghost. Minya, obsessed with revenge, holds them hostage. Lazlo faced an impossible choice: to save the woman he loves or to save everyone else? And Sarai feels more helpless than ever. However, sometimes only the most extreme need can reveal our own depths, and Sarai, the muse of horror, has not yet discovered the limits of her possibilities.
As humans and the descendants of the gods recover from the near total fall of the citadel, a new enemy shatters their fragile hopes, and ancient secrets come alive anew. Where did the gods come from and why? What happened to the thousands of children born in the citadel? And most importantly, when forgotten doors open to reveal new worlds, must the heroes always slay the monsters—or can they perhaps be saved?
