We baked buns and cakes

This book can encourage even those who do not like to cook to culinary achievements. Everyone will find something to their liking. There are cakes that were fashionable in the 20s and 30s of the last century and are almost completely forgotten now, exquisite almond cakes. In addition, the cuisine of Olga Bachynska and the people of Stryi also impresses with its tradition, locality of dishes: cakes with caraway seeds, with poppy seeds, onion pancakes, bagels, crunches, strudels, dolki and pampushki. And also - rye wine!
However, I want the reader, leafing through the pages of this book, to feel not only the aroma of dishes, but also the spirit of ancient Stryi, to discover for himself not only culinary creations, but also the bright personalities of the people of Stryi and the forgotten pages of our history. Therefore, this is also a cookbook with history.
Another feature of this book is the language. According to the established tradition of the project "Author's Kitchen Ukrainian", the author's text of old cookbooks is not updated. We preserve the colloquial language of the time of writing the book, as a value no less than the value of the old census.
The book is based on the culinary census of Olga Bachynska - a successful woman, one of the directors of the powerful "Maslosoyuz" at the beginning of the 20th century. In addition, the book is supplemented with selected culinary recipes from three more private notebooks of the same period, which gives a more complete picture of the ancient Stryi cuisine and the tastes of Stryi residents 100 years ago.
