Beijing VS Beijing, Zhuangzi VS Zhuangzi: Ukrainian practical Chinese transcription project.
This is the first educational and reference publication in Ukraine, which is devoted to the issue of transcription of Chinese proper names and realities in the Ukrainian language. A new system of transcription of Chinese words into Ukrainian is included here, as well as the first steps to normalize the spelling of loanwords from Chinese into Ukrainian are presented - the question of what to write together and what separately, what to cancel and what not, in what way to perceive Chinese speakers borrowing etc.
In the manual, you can read a brief history of the relationship between the Chinese language and alphabetic writing, in particular the Cyrillic alphabet. In a new light, the conventionality of using letters to denote sounds and sound effects layered on them is mentioned. You can also learn about the special characteristics of the sound flow of the Chinese language, and how they can be reproduced in the Ukrainian language (and whether it is possible at all in certain cases), which methods will be most suitable for this and why.
The guide was approved by the Academic Council of the Taras Shevchenko Institute of Philology of KNU
