British teacher Philip Swallow and American professor, world-famous scientist Maurice Zapp participate in an exchange program between universities: for a whole semester, the British loser ends up in one of the prestigious US universities, and the energetic American in a mediocre British university. Both teachers find themselves in a new and unfamiliar cultural and professional environment, where they try to get used to it as quickly as possible.
Various adventures endlessly happen with Swallow and Zapp, which mirror and extremely comically echo each other. Their lives are intertwined: they are forced to exchange offices, colleagues, students. And when events get out of control, then intimate and private. And soon after the start of the exchange program, the sunny Euphoria University and the rainy Smithytown University turn into hotbeds of intrigue, machinations and broken promises...
"Change of places" is a funny story about university life, intellectual fashion, sex, marriage, jealousy, friendship. This is the story of people open to change, who try on someone else's life.
