Diary of a maid

Thanks to the novel "The Maid's Diary", Octave Mirbeau became famous as a master of outrageousness. The main character, the maid Celestina, exposes the dirty realities of the life of French nobles at the end of the 19th century. She has served her masters almost since childhood, and therefore knows a lot of other people's secrets. And although this novel is called scandalous and erotic, its pages are permeated with the deep thoughts of a hired hand, the fears of a woman, and the feelings of an honest person. Celestina does not stand aside from the stormy cynical life she writes about in her diary - she freely swims in its waters, trying not to dissolve.
