Colombo, 1990. The events unfold during the civil war in Sri Lanka. Maali Almeida, a war photographer and gambler, wakes up in the Middle World with no memory of the circumstances of her death. All that is known so far is that his body was dismembered and drowned in a lake.
But even in the afterlife, time is running out for a man. Maala will have to uncover the mystery of her death and somehow tell her loved ones where the secret photos are kept that will change the political world of Sri Lanka.
