Today, it is impossible to imagine Ukrainian literature, culture and history without the creative work of Taras Hryhorovych Shevchenko (1814-1861). He left to future generations brilliant poetic and prose works that are still relevant.
The publication included 100 of the poet's last (with minor exceptions) poems. According to the compilers of this collection, Dmytro Stus and Tamara Kholosha, "Shevchenko was decades ahead of modernist searches in Europe and the world, and his sincerity and poetic skill made the late period of his work one of the top achievements of European poetry of the 19th century."
