Tales of Vasyl Koroliv-Staryi (1879-1943) are a real gem of Ukrainian literature. The author rethought and revived many characters of Ukrainian mythology.
All of them honestly live invisible next to people where they can, help them, and protect them from misfortune, evil deeds, and bad thoughts. The writer seeks to ennoble the Ukrainian "unclean force", to deprive children of the feeling of horror in front of invented scary creatures, and to interest young people in mythology.
The book teaches us to distinguish between good and evil both in fairy tales and in life.
