The book you are holding in your hands is a paper-based video diary that I kept while in the ATO zone from September 2014 to July 2015. When it all started, neither I nor my "colleagues" had a clear idea of what was happening, let alone how it would end. At first, everything looked like a kind of trip outside the city on heavy military equipment with weapons in hand. Picnic with adventure. It was only later, when we got caught up in the maelstrom of events, that the realization began to come that this is a war, everything is grown-up here.
At some point, I caught myself thinking that the events we had experienced began to be forgotten, they overlapped one another, and you simply began to get lost in the days, routine work began. Therefore, I began to record on the video of my phone every morning (if the circumstances allowed) a short story about the day that had passed and the day that was just beginning, the people who were nearby, their impressions, experiences, thoughts.
Since the guys around were simple, mostly did not graduate from the institutes, they expressed their thoughts simply, using words and phrases that, in their opinion, best corresponded to the moment. Therefore, there are many idiomatic expressions in the book, I wanted to convey that atmosphere, color, and children should read the book only with the permission of adults.
Here you will not read how mobilized servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine cut enemies with knives or threw themselves under a tank with a bunch of grenades, there is no such thing. In general, war in life is different from what is shown in movies or written in books.
"War is not the end of life. War is such a life."
