This book presents the story of the long-standing friendship between one of the most prominent linguists of the 20th century, a leading emigration thinker, critic and cultural researcher, Yury Shevelyov-Sherekh (1908–2002), a professor at Columbia University in New York, and the writer Oksana Zabuzhko (born in 1960). . Their correspondence of 1992–2002 is accompanied by detailed comments by O. Zabuzhko, as well as a selection of their works discussed in the letters.
