The Transfiguration Cathedral in Chernihiv is one of the oldest and most revered shrines in Ukraine, a building of the same age as the Kyiv Sophia Cathedral, the first stone temple of the Left Bank, founded by Prince Mstyslav the Brave in the 11th century.
This special issue of the magazine "Antiquarian" is dedicated to it - a large-scale popular science publication that united historians, archaeologists, art critics, restorers and patrons of the arts around the idea of reviving the Savior as a place of national unity.
The return of the cathedral to the National Reserve "Ancient Chernihiv" was the beginning of a great joint work - from urgent restoration measures to a new understanding of the role of the shrine in the cultural space of modern Ukraine.
