The second issue of the restored "KINO-KOLO" magazine was released. It is based on cooperation with the Kyiv Criticism Week. Therefore, the main topic of this issue is "Film criticism as it is". The cover refers to the film criticism shadows on the tower of "Megalopolis" by Francis Ford Coppola.
"The fundamental question is, what was, is and will be film criticism? Why is it important for filmmakers and viewers? Most of the journal texts, as it should be in such a publication, are analytical and, in fact, critical. They are based on the experience and practice of this year's Kyiv Criticism Week," the publishers note.
Producer Denys Ivanov talks about the history of this festival and the birth of the Kinokol professional award.
The number also talks about retrospective programs of the week of criticism, about quirky Ukrainian cinema and world festival hits of the season. And also about war documentaries and Ukrainian film problems.
The publication introduces readers to the novelties of the world film industry. Film critic Dmytro Sydorenko writes about the mood in Coppola's Megalopolis.
And film critic Nataliya Serebryakova explains why Jacques Odillard's innovative film "Emilia Peres" is worth paying attention to. It was shown at the Kyiv Critics' Week. The main actors of the film, Zoë Saldana, Selena Gomez and Carla Sofia Gascón, received the "Palm Branch" at the Cannes Film Festival this year. This picture is nominated for the "Oscar" award from France.
