On the slopes of the White Carpathians, women endowed with unique abilities have long lived. They knew how to heal, knew how to help in any trouble, could advise in difficulty, and they also say that they predicted the future. They were called "goddesses", and they passed their skills down from generation to generation. Dora Idesová is one of the last representatives of the Žytkov goddesses. And although she did not inherit their skills, she received an ethnographic education and decided to devote a thorough scientific investigation to them.
In the late 90s, an operational-detective case of the State Security organs appears in the Pardubice archive of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Czech Republic, opened against an internal enemy - her aunt, the goddess Surmena. Dora investigates the fate of the Žytkov goddesses and is surprised to discover that although she herself did not become a goddess, she is inseparably part of this mysterious tradition.
